Technical Support

Online technical discussion, communication.

BestBuy Deluxe offers tailored support according to our customers' requirement. For general information, please select the topic you are interested in at below. (Some answers are applied to both BESTOKEN and Pro)

What BESTOKENs can be used for?

BESTOKEN is USB based HID device which can be used for access control and identification authentication.

What are the system requirements for BESTOKEN?
  • Microsoft® Windows® 98(Second Edition), Windows® Me, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® 2003, Windows® Vista, Linux, Mac OS X.
  • (at least) 64MB of hard-disk space
  • DVD ROM Device for BESTOKEN SDK disk
  • Type A USB Port (conforming to USB 1.1 or later)
  • Internet Explorer 5 or later

What is the function for the BESTOKEN certificate monitor (the system tray icon)?

Besides indicating plug/unplug key, certificate monitor also has indications for other functions such as download certificate with CSP, FormatKey operation, generating RSA key pairs etc. But the main function for it is that it can detect plug/unplug of hardware, and automatically read the certificates in hardware and register it to certificate storage section of the system. This enables relevant applications can access certificate and unregister registered certificate when unplug the key. Thus “portable certificate” is realized.

What if I lost my PIN and want to start over with the device or the key got locked?

There is a FormatKey source code in SDK-sample-PKCS#11. And we will include a ready Format Key tool in upgraded SDK.

Notice: All data inside the device will be lost if you use the FormatKey tool. Please use it carefully!

How to find the 64-bit unique hardware serial number?

Plug BESTOKENs on your computer and launch Token Manager, the serial number appears in the detailed information list.

What is the meaning for "Exchanging", "Signing" when importing certificate?

When importing a certificate, an option is given for Exchanging or Signing. "Exchanging" means this certificate can be used for encrypt and sign; "Singing" means the certificate can be used for signing only.

How the UUID's are done for containers, can I name them by myself?

Currently, the container name can only be specified by user when applying new certificates.

We added an attribute in PKCS#11, named CKA_CONTAINER_NAME. When creating a new container with CSP, the CAPI will specify the container name, Microsoft uses a GUID as the container name. But when creating CKO_CERTIFICATE/CKO_PRIVATE_KEY/CKO_PUBLIC_KEY with PKCS #11, there is no way to set the container name. It is the SHA-1 calculation result of module. The certificate/public-key/private-key can be kept in a "virtual container" and being used in CSP. When using PKCS#11 API, the API will set container name for you.

We are improving it and user can specify container name soon.

What can be stored in the 64kb/32kb user data space and how to use it?

BESTOKEN (Pro) has 64kb (32kb) user data space for storage of key pairs and certificates. And you can save any other data within the space limit.
